In a perfect world free of toxins, your body would be ingesting only natural substances from which it could metabolize the energy to keep going. But when it is exposed to artificial chemicals and other toxins, the body must call on its own resources to isolate, neutralized, and eliminate those poisons. The skin, urinary system, and bowels are all called on to keep the body cleansed, and unless they are healthy will be unable to perform their functions.
Science And Herbal detox
When the amount of toxins we absorb is too much for our bodies’ organs to handle, some of the poison inevitably escapes into the blood where it is transported to the tissues and stored. Scientific research has established a connection between the rate at which cells develop mutations when reproducing and the presence of toxic free radicals in the body.
But scientific research has also established that herbs rich in certain phytochemicals are highly effective in helping the body cleans itself of stored toxins. Herbal detox is the process of using these phytochemically-charged herbs to stimulate and support the cleansing functions of the body’s lungs, kidneys, liver, and bowels.
Cleansing Herbs
While detoxification itself can be done with a variety of different methods, and is intended to eliminate the poor digestion, obesity, fatigue, allergies, and other health problems associated with toxic accumulation, herbal detox concentrates of the addition of herbal supplement and herbal teas to the diet. Some herbs commonly included in herbal detox regimens include:
* Psyllium seeds rich in fiber which stimulates bowel function and creates a feeling of fullness to help quell food cravings. Pysillium seed is excellent for drawing toxins from your tissues and absorbing them to be passed form your body in the stool.
* Milk thistle is used in herbal detox to enable the liver’s synthesis of protons, and to rid the body of contamination with its antioxidant properties.
* Nettle leaf is included in herbal detox as a diuretic to flush out toxins in the urine, but nettle also cleanses joint fluid.
* Burdock root and seed are known as herbal detox agents which function like nettle leaf, but are more powerful cleansers, and dandelion root is excellent for as liver detoxifier.
* Dandelion root also boosts urinary function and the amount of toxins removed in the urine.
Herbal detox can be done on its own or incorporated into a full detoxification diet, where it will be most effective because you will not be hampering the herb’s cleansing function by continuing to ingest toxins in your food and drink.
